Health & Safety Support for Construction
Safety Assistance provides qualified consultancy, CDM support, RAMS and the technology to manage health and safety across your sites and projects nationwide.
Practical health and safety for construction from site to boardroom
Whether you are a principal contractor managing multiple subcontractors, a specialist contractor working across different sites, or a groundworks or civils business with a growing project pipeline, the demands on your health and safety function are real and constant. Tight programmes, changing site conditions, CDM dutyholder responsibilities, RAMS requirements and accreditation renewals all need to be managed alongside the day-to-day work of getting projects delivered.
Safety Assistance works with construction businesses of all sizes to provide both the qualified consultancy and the practical tools to manage safety properly. That means expert advice from IOSH-qualified professionals when you need it, and software that helps your team handle documentation, inspections, incidents and records without the usual administrative burden.
We cover the full range of construction health and safety needs from acting as your competent person and supporting CDM compliance, through to producing and reviewing RAMS, carrying out site audits and helping you achieve the accreditations your clients and principal contractors require. We work with clients nationwide and can visit sites anywhere in the UK.

CDM and dutyholder support
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations place specific duties on clients, designers, principal designers, principal contractors and contractors involved in construction projects. Understanding which duties apply to your business and having the right documentation and processes in place to meet them is an important part of managing a construction project safely and lawfully.
Safety Assistance can support construction businesses in understanding their dutyholder responsibilities and putting the right systems in place. We provide CDM Advisor support, helping clients navigate their obligations, and Principal Contractor support, working alongside your team to ensure the right documentation, site management arrangements and subcontractor oversight are in place.
We do not provide the Principal Designer role. If your project requires a Principal Designer appointment, we can advise on what that involves and what to look for, but we will be clear about the boundaries of the support we provide.
If you are unsure which CDM duties apply to your project or organisation, a discovery call is a straightforward way to talk it through. There is no charge for that initial conversation.
Fast RAMS - produce compliant RAMS in minutes, from site
Fast RAMS is a mobile-first app built for construction professionals who need to produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements quickly often directly from site rather than back at the office. If your team currently relies on Word templates, paper forms or emailed PDFs, Fast RAMS is designed to replace that process with something faster and more consistent.
The app guides users through a five-stage process covering project details, risks, methodology, resources and sign-off. It includes pre-populated hazards and control measures, risk scoring, digital signatures and approval workflows, worker briefings in-app, professional branded PDF export, cloud storage and a full audit trail of signatures and approvals. COSHH assessments are also supported within the app.
Fast RAMS is available as a standalone product – no consultancy relationship required. There is a free tier that allows you to create one RAMS document, with cloud storage and digital signatures included. The Unlimited plan is £9.99 per month, giving you unlimited RAMS, PDF export and sharing, company branding and priority support. An annual subscription is also available at £99.99.
Fast RAMS works on iOS and Android, with offline capability so your team can work on site without a signal and sync when they reconnect.
Safety Mate® - manage safety across your sites and projects
Safety Mate® is a health and safety management platform for construction businesses managing multiple sites, subcontractors and projects. It replaces the usual mix of spreadsheets, shared folders, paper forms and disconnected systems with one platform that your H&S manager, operations team and site workers can all use.
For construction businesses, Safety Mate® handles RAMS, inspections and audits, incident and near-miss reporting, corrective actions, COSHH records, equipment and asset pre-use checks, training and competency records, and document briefings with digital signatures. AI-assisted drafting is available for risk assessments and policies.
The Safety Mate® mobile app for iOS and Android means site workers can report incidents, complete inspections, view and sign safety documents, scan equipment QR codes and work offline before syncing later. For directors and operations managers, the platform provides visibility across all sites and projects in one place.
Safety Mate® is available as a standalone product or alongside Safety Assistance consultancy services. It supports multi-site and multi-company configuration and is used across more than 150 organisations. A free demo is available to book online.

Common questions from construction businesses
Do you work with smaller contractors as well as larger firms?
Yes. We work with construction businesses of all sizes, from sole traders and small specialist contractors through to principal contractors with large project portfolios. The support we provide is tailored to your organisation's size, structure and risk profile, so you are not paying for things you do not need.
Can you help us get CHAS, SSIP or Constructionline accreditation?
Yes. We have direct experience supporting construction businesses through CHAS, SMAS Worksafe, SafeContractor, Constructionline, SSIP and RISQS. We are also a Once For All approved compliance partner. We help you understand what is required, get your documentation in order and work through the application process with you. Documentation preparation typically takes around 14 days, depending on what you already have in place.
What CDM support do you provide?
We provide CDM Advisor support and Principal Contractor support. As a CDM Advisor, we help you understand your dutyholder responsibilities and put the right documentation and processes in place. As Principal Contractor support, we work alongside your team on site management arrangements, subcontractor oversight and the required health and safety documentation. We do not provide the Principal Designer role.
How quickly can you produce or review RAMS?
We aim to turn around RAMS production and review within 24 hours. If you have an urgent requirement, get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate it. For ongoing RAMS needs, Fast RAMS is our mobile app that lets your own team produce compliant RAMS in under 10 minutes directly from site.
Do you visit sites or is support remote?
Both. We carry out on-site visits for construction site audits, inspections and CDM support, and we cover the whole of the UK there are no geographic restrictions beyond nationwide. Remote support is also available for documentation, advisory work and ongoing competent person services. The right balance depends on your project and what you need.
Do you offer AI camera technology for construction sites?
Yes. Through Horizon Semantics, we can connect existing CCTV or IP cameras, or deploy managed cameras, to detect hazards such as PPE non-compliance, people entering exclusion zones, proximity to plant and vehicles, and other configurable risks. Events feed into Safety Mate® analytics so you can identify repeated high-risk locations across your sites. Speak to us about your site setup and we can explain what is currently available.
