What accreditation support means in practice
Many clients and principal contractors require suppliers to hold a recognised health and safety accreditation before they can tender for work. Some will not consider a business at all without one. Achieving the right accreditation can open doors to contracts that would otherwise be out of reach.
Safety Assistance helps businesses prepare for and achieve accreditations including CHAS, SMAS Worksafe, SafeContractor, Constructionline, SSIP, RISQS, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001. We are also a Once For All approved compliance partner, which means we have direct, recognised experience of the application and assessment process across the schemes that matter most to our clients.
Throughout the process, our team acts as your competent health and safety advisor. We review what you already have, identify any gaps, prepare tailored documentation and guide you through the application — handling the detail so you do not have to.
Accreditation demonstrates that your business has the policies, procedures and management systems in place that clients and assessors expect to see. It is a practical step towards better safety management as well as a commercial one.

Common questions about accreditation support
Do I need an accreditation to tender for contracts?
There is no single legal requirement that forces every business to hold a health and safety accreditation. However, many clients particularly in construction, facilities management and the public sector will only consider accredited suppliers during the tendering process. In practice, not holding a recognised accreditation can mean being excluded from opportunities before your bid is even read. Whether you need one depends on the clients and sectors you are working in or want to work in.
Which accreditation is right for my business?
The right scheme depends on who your clients are and what they require. SSIP schemes such as CHAS, SMAS Worksafe and SafeContractor are widely recognised across construction and facilities management. Constructionline is commonly required for larger construction and infrastructure contracts. RISQS is specific to the rail industry. ISO 45001 is increasingly expected by larger organisations and those operating internationally. The best starting point is a short discovery call we will ask about your clients and the contracts you are targeting, and recommend the most practical route.
Can you help with renewals as well as first-time applications?
Yes. We support both first-time applications and renewals. For renewals, we review your current management system, identify anything that needs updating and make sure your documentation still meets the scheme's current criteria before the application goes in.
How is pricing structured?
We offer transparent pricing based on your organisation’s requirements. Because every business is different in size, sector and the state of its existing documentation we agree the scope and cost after a free discovery call rather than applying a fixed package price. There are no hidden extras.
Do you support ISO 45001 as well as SSIP schemes?
Yes. We support ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 as well as the SSIP member schemes listed on this page. Our founder is a qualified Lead Auditor for both ISO 45001 and ISO 9001, so we can support the full process from gap analysis and documentation through to the certification audit.
What is Once For All and why does it matter?

Safety Assistance is an approved compliance partner, which means we have direct, recognised experience of the application process for the schemes managed through that platform. It is a practical indicator that we know how the process works, not just in theory.
