Who we are

Safety Assistance Limited is a UK health and safety consultancy founded in 2022 by Stephen Shields, a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) holding the NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH Fire qualification, and Lead Auditor status for ISO 45001 and ISO 9001. The wider team are members of IOSH, bringing relevant qualifications and experience across the sectors they work in.

The company is based in Liverpool and works with businesses nationwide, from single-site operations to organisations with multiple sites, contractors and projects. We hold Cyber Essentials accreditation and carry Professional Indemnity insurance of £5 million and Public Liability insurance of £10 million.

A note from our founder

My name is Stephen Shields and I founded Safety Assistance Limited because I saw a clear gap in the market. Too many businesses were being offered health and safety support that was either prohibitively expensive, tied to long contracts, or so full of jargon that it was practically useless in the real world.

My goal from day one has been to become a trusted extension of my clients’ teams not just another consultant who sends over a policy and disappears. I genuinely care about the people at work: the site manager juggling compliance with day-to-day pressures, the new starter working around machinery for the first time, and the business owner who simply wants to know they are doing the right thing.
