Professionally prepared RAMS and health and safety documentation, tailored to your business
Safety Assistance acts as an extension of your team handling the documentation so you can focus on running your operations.
What we do and who it is for
Safety Assistance prepares, reviews and manages health and safety documentation for UK businesses including Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), Safe Systems of Work, COSHH Assessments and Health and Safety Policies.
Our service is aimed at contractors, site managers, operations managers and health and safety managers who need accurate, site-specific documents but do not have the time or in-house expertise to produce them to the standard required.
Every document we produce is tailored to your business, your tasks and your working environment. We do not use generic templates, AI or copy-and-paste content. If a document does not reflect the actual work being carried out, it will not stand up to scrutiny from clients, principal contractors or enforcement bodies.
Whether you need a single set of RAMS for a specific project or ongoing support to keep your full documentation library up to date, we can help.
What is included in our documentation service
- Risk Assessments tailored to your specific tasks and site conditions
- Method Statements and RAMS prepared from scratch for each project
- COSHH Assessments covering chemicals and other hazardous substances
- Health and Safety Policies written for your organisation
- Safe Systems of Work and Health and Safety Procedures
- Document control setup, review and ongoing management
- FastRAMS available as an app for clients who want to manage RAMS themselves
Why your documentation needs to be specific to your business
Generic or copy-and-paste or AI documents are one of the most common problems we see. They may look complete on paper, but they often fail to reflect the actual site conditions, the specific tasks being carried out, or the control measures your workers actually use. When a client, principal contractor or enforcement body looks closely, the gaps become obvious.
The law expects employers to assess the risks arising from their specific work activities and to put appropriate controls in place. A document that does not reflect the real work being done does not satisfy that duty. It also provides little practical protection for your workers or your business if something goes wrong.
Safety Assistance prepares all documentation from scratch, based on the actual work being carried out. Our founder, Stephen Shields, holds a NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH Fire certificate, is a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) and is a Lead Auditor for ISO 45001 and ISO 9001. Our team are Members of IOSH. That expertise is applied directly to the documents we produce for you.
Common questions about RAMS and documentation
What is a RAMS and when do I need one?
RAMS stands for Risk Assessment and Method Statement. A Risk Assessment identifies the hazards involved in a task and sets out the controls needed to manage them safely. A Method Statement describes how the work will be carried out in a safe and controlled way. Together they form a RAMS. The law expects employers to assess risks arising from their work activities and to have suitable arrangements in place to manage them. In construction, the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 place specific duties on those carrying out and managing work to have appropriate documentation in place. If you are unsure whether you need a RAMS for a particular task or project, we can advise you.
How quickly can documents be prepared?
We aim to turn around RAMS and documentation within 24 hours of receiving the information we need from you. Turnaround depends on the complexity of the work and how much detail you are able to provide at the outset. For larger or more complex projects, we will agree a realistic timescale with you at the start. Contact us to discuss your requirements and we will give you a clear expectation.
Can you manage our document control on an ongoing basis?
Yes. We can set up and manage a document control system for your business, covering the creation, review, approval and archiving of your health and safety documents. This is particularly useful for businesses with multiple projects, sites or contractors, where keeping documentation current and accessible can otherwise become difficult to manage consistently.
Do you use FastRAMS or Safety Mate?
Both tools are available to our clients. FastRAMS is a mobile-first app designed for creating, signing and sharing RAMS quickly on site — useful for contractors and site managers who need to produce documentation efficiently in the field. Safety Mate is our broader health and safety management platform, which covers a wider range of safety processes including incident reporting, audits, COSHH records and training. We can advise which tool best fits your needs, or support you in using both alongside our consultancy service.
Do you cover the whole of the UK?
Yes. Safety Assistance operates nationwide. Our physical office is in Liverpool, but we work with businesses across the UK. Many documentation services can be delivered remotely, and we can also attend site where required.
